Australian families applying for Brazilian visas for minors are currently required to complete the prescribed “Authorization for Issuance of Brazilian Visa for Minor” form issued by the Consulate General of Brazil. This form is required where a child applies for a Brazilian visa and both parents are not present at the visa interview.
The Brazilian Consulate confirms that notarisation of the parent or parents’ signatures is not required where both parents attend the visa interview in person. However, where one or both parents are unable to attend, the form must be signed in advance and supported by a Notary’s Certificate of Acknowledgement.
Australian Notary Public services are frequently engaged to assist parents in these circumstances. The notary verifies the identity of the signing parent or parents, witnesses execution of the prescribed consular form, and completes the Notary’s Certificate of Acknowledgement in the format required by the Brazilian authorities, affixing their seal and signature.
In addition to notarising the visa authorisation form, Australian notaries regularly assist with notarising copies of supporting documents, including birth certificates and passports, where required by the Consulate.

For children of Brazilian parent(s), an additional declaration may be required:
A Declaração de Não-Cidadania, signed by the Brazilian parent(s), confirming that the child is not a Brazilian citizen and does not hold a Brazilian birth certificate
